After including Royal S' "Rims+Flow" on our 2004 mixtape, we were looking forward to any new material from the former 'Kid'. Royal S released a mixtape, was featured on several mixtapes and went through a minimal name change. The past few years resulted, as evident by listening to the first few tracks on this album, in a more mature and insightful Royal S.
"Attitude Identitaire" features production by Niroshima (2 Bal 2 Neg), Rico and Nikkfurie, who also features on the tracks "Necro-Phobe" and "Supernova" along with Hi-Tekk. The La Caution connection doesn't stop there as Hi-Tekk was also responsible for the video for "Fuck Captain America", the first single and video for Royal S' album.
As indicated before, Royal S has matured, which results in a coherent album and good subject matter. "Balieue Est" and of course "Fuck Captain America" show a thoughtful Royal S, as he doesn't shy away from the social concepts and subjects, as perfectly visualized in the video for the latter track.
The only knock on his choices for this album could be the collaboration with Webbafied, who isn't all that bad, but we've heard the American MC on too many French albums now, and the are probably quite some French artists who would've loved to work with Royal S on this album.
Royal S delivered a great album on which he shifted his flows and beats a few gears back, which results in a very good debut album, and the tracks promise an even better sophomore effort.
