Outside of projects like Show Time School, Fily's crew, and the collaborations with Neyah, his brother, Fily Rockfeller still is, and always be a solo artist. It won't be long before Fily will release a new album so we tought this would be a good time to check out what he's been up to...

Fily's current activiteis...
"At the moment I'm still promoting my solo album "Hip Hop 2 Vie". The album features Driver, Les 2 Doigts, Lady Sweety, G No, Matt Moerdock, Stéréo Neg and has productions by Tryss (Diam's, Antilop SA, Lady Laesty's DJ), Mah Ko
(Stéréo Neg), Tsunami ("Acid" by La Brigade, "Ghetto Star" by Ärsenik), K-Lex, Will(Ill of the X-men) and Tomaz. This album is 100% independent and 100% Show Time School!!
I'm also recording my next album in collaboration with Neyah. It will be titled "Les Challengers". On this album you will find names like JP from Les 2 Doigts, Driver, Rapp'Dézé, Alibi Montana and another MC from Brooklyn, USA, named Webbafied, who's known from the End of the Weak battles. On this album I also tried to look for good producers like Tryss, Aya Prod., Malek, K-Lex, Mah Ko, DJ Cori, Rodee Cox, Neyah and I did some beats myself too."

Inspiration...
"The French hip hop scene has four types of artists. The ones who I think are very, very skilled, like Oxmo, Disiz, Soprano. The ones I respect like Akh, Kool Shen, Rost, Squat, Ärsenik and MC Solaar.
The ones I respect but who are not really my cup of tea, like Booba, Pit Baccardi, and finally you have those who I really don't like but who are doing their thing regardless and that's something I respect too. I respect arrtistic freedom, as they say."
Business...

"I would love to release my next album with IV My People, Kool Shen's label, Bayes' Menace Records Bayes or Rost's CMP. The future will tell where I end up. I've been through the indy route before because I had no other choice in the past. I wanted to share my passion and the indy route proved to be the route to take for me at that time."
Show Time School and Fily...
"First, Show Time School is a group of artists. Neyah, K-Lex, Red K, Lorca and Mamad all are part of this crew, which is rounded out by our own engineer Malek.
Fily is a simple nickname which I've been using since wayback. Rockfeller means something to me, it's all about starting from scratch and ending up the opposite. It's as easy as that." |

European and American Hip Hop...
"Hip Hop in Europe, especially in Germany, Italy, Spain and France are large markets which have to be taken care of the right way. Duitsland, Italië, Spanje en Frankrijk, bieden een grote markt die goed behandeld moet worden.
American Hip Hop, still the best there is, is the very foundation of a worldwide cultural movement. It's a shame it's slowly stagnating, altough it's still the one market which sets trends."
The best France has to offer right now...
"The best French MC at the moment is Booba, hands down. The future is the independent route!"
